Delaware "John J. Ford, Jr." "June 1, 1759 10s
Note #25936 Elephant" Extra Fine

Reference #: CC10
"Tightly trimmed at three margins but otherwise very choice, this Franklin note is another the likes of which one will seldom see. The paper remains crisp and very bright for its age, with bold dark ink contrasting. The fold crease shows some wear from the back of this note, but by no means excessive, while it hardly shows from the obverse. Actually, the reverse of this note is particularly vivid, especially the animals engraved at the bottom. The signatures and bill number all are strong. Franklin notes of this quality present a rare opportunity for the collector who appreciates their historic significance and wishes to add a museum quality note to their personal collection. Printed by Benjamin Franklin, David Hall. Signed by Wm. Armstrong, David Hall, John Barnes. ex. Stacks 01/05 Lot 1446 John J. Ford, Jr., Part VIII. "

Georgia "June 8, 1777 $5
Note #33 Rattlesnake" Choice Crisp Almost Uncirculated

Reference #: CC11
"This is the sub variety with the Red rather than Black ""in"" printed between Dollars and Continental on the obverse. It is both a lovely and interesting piece, as the color on the obverse Rattlesnake seal (which is typically dark blue) is lacking here, showing weakly instead as an uninked, slightly darker visual impression in the paper. This same occurrence was described for Lot #4586 of Stack's 5/05 Ford Sale, though in that case it was a Six Dollar Note whose seal was uninked. That note was serial number two, while this is serial number thirty three, so perhaps the phenomena is linked to the first bills printed of these issues. Aside from that, this is a vivid piece of currency; bold, dark printed framing, with the additional use of red contributing to its visual appeal, appear on clean, off white paper. ex. Heritage Signature Orlando 2003. "

Maryland "April 10, 1774 $8
Note #5820" Gem Crisp Uncirculated

Reference #: CC21
"A bold and beautiful bill, with dark black printed on unspotted nearly white paper. It is trimmed tight at the upper and right margins, but that is as close as this comes to having any imperfections. Signed by J. Clapham and W. Eddis. Great eye appeal. ex. Heritage Orlando CAA #282 2002."

Maryland "April 10, 1774 $8
Note #8959" Choice Crisp Almost Uncirculated

Reference #: CC22
"A whisper at most away from being a crisp Uncirculated bill. This note also has bright, near white paper with relatively dark printing. It has wide margins except at the left, but that is normal for these notes. A stiff and lovely note complete with mica specs in the paper. Signed by J. Clapham and W. Eddis."

Maryland "April 10, 1774 $6
Note #3637" Extra Fine

Reference #: CC23
"A pleasing circulated example of this issue which is all that can be asked for of its grade. The paper has even, gentle ivory toning while the printing and reverse nature cut are dark. Reasonable margins with no problems, a soft vertical fold line is really only apparent from the reverse and this note is still fairly stiff. Clapham and Ellis as signers."

"A nice middle grade piece on clean, slightly toned paper. Very little dog-earing for the grade. One vertical fold down the center. Eddis and Clapham as signers. "
